Guide for accessing the new BEP-20 BUX Token on the Binance Smart Chain

This is a guide on how to access your BEP-20 BUX tokens using your ERC-20 wallet address. In order to do this you have to connect your wallet to the Binance Smart Chain. When you are connected to the Binance Smart Chain, you can access your BEP-20 BUX tokens with the same keys you used for storing the BPT ERC-20 tokens.

This guide will include MetaMask, MEW and using a hardware wallet in order to access your BEP-20 BUX tokens. Token holders that have tokens at BUX Crypto or KuCoin do not need to use this guide as they can automatically access their BEP-20 BUX tokens on these platforms.

You can transfer your BEP-20 BUX tokens after 15:00 CET on December 1st 2020.

Installing and setting up MetaMask

If you already have a MetaMask account you can skip this step and go to the next part. MetaMask can be downloaded on Chrome and Firefox, or on iOS and Android if you’re a mobile user. For the purposes of this tutorial, we’ll use the Firefox version, but the instructions will be very similar for every platform.

Firstly, you’ll want to head over to the MetaMask Download page. From there, select whichever platform you’re using, and follow the steps to install it on your device. Easy!

Next, follow along with the setup specified by the app. Go ahead and click “Create a Wallet”. Write down the backup seed phrase somewhere secret (preferably not on an Internet-connected device). Without this phrase, your funds can’t be recovered if your device is damaged or lost. Confirm that you’ve written them down on the next page.

You have now created a MetaMask account.

After this you can import and access your tokens by using your private key or hardware wallet. More on how to import your private key or connect with your hardware wallet will follow later in this guide.

Connecting with the Binance Smart Chain through MetaMask

Step 1: Log into your MetaMask account.

Step 2: Now you need to connect to the Binance Smart Chain. In order to do this you have to click on settings. Then click on networks. And then you have to click on add network.

Fill in the following information to connect to the Binance Smart Chain mainnet:

Network Name: Smart Chain

New RPC URL: https://bsc-dataseed.binance.org/

ChainID: 56

Symbol: BNB

Block Explorer URL: https://bscscan.com

Good job! You are now connected to the Binance Smart Chain.

Step 3: You can now add the token contract for BUX so that the tokens will display correctly in your wallet.

Go back to the main screen of your wallet and click on Add token. Then click on custom token.

Fill in the following information:

  • Token Contract Address: 0x211ffbe424b90e25a15531ca322adf1559779e45

  • Token Symbol: BUX

  • Decimals of Precision: 18

If you already had your tokens on your MetaMask account, you are now able to access your BEP-20 BUX tokens! If you use a Ledger or your private keys to connect to access your tokens, see the following chapters of this guide.

Accessing the BEP-20 tokens through MetaMask using a hardware wallet (Ledger or Trezor)

When you are logged in to MetaMask, click on the round icon on the top right of your screen. It will show you your connected accounts. Make sure you are logged in to the Ethereum application on your hardware wallet. Then, click on the ‘Connect Hardware Wallet’ option. Here you can choose which hardware wallet you want to connect (Trezor or Ledger). Click on the one you own and then click on connect. Choose the option you use to access your ETH wallet. It will show you 2 options: Ledger Live and Legacy (MEW/MyCrypto). You can then click on the wallet address where you stored your ERC-20 BPT tokens.

You have now successfully connected to the Binance Smart Chain through MetaMask using your hardware wallet!

Accessing the BEP-20 tokens through MetaMask using your private key

Click on the import wallet option. Paste or write down your private wallet key in order to access your wallet. Or you can use a JSON file to access your wallet.

You have now successfully imported a wallet to MetaMask!

Accessing the BEP-20 tokens through Myetherwallet.com (MEW)

Go to Myetherwallet.com and access your wallet.

Click on the method you use to connect to your wallet.

When you are logged in to MEW, you have to change the network from ETH to BSC. You can do this on the top right of the page by clicking on the change button under ‘Network’.

Scroll down until you see BSC and click on that option.

You are now connected to the Binance Smart chain using MEW!

Now the only thing you have to do is click on add custom token and fill in the token information in order for it to display in your wallet.

Fill in the following information:

  • Token Contract Address: 0x211ffbe424b90e25a15531ca322adf1559779e45

  • Token Symbol: BUX

  • Decimals of Precision: 18

Activate contract data on your Ledger in order to send BEP-20 tokens.

If you want to send BEP-20 tokens, you need to activate contract data on your device. Otherwise, invalid status 6a80 is returned.

Steps:

  • Connect and unlock your Ledger device.

  • Open the Ethereum application.

  • Press the right button to navigate to Settings. Then press both buttons to validate.

  • In the Contract data settings, press both buttons to allow contract data in transactions.

  • The device displays “Allowed”.

Note: Since BEP-20 tokens exist on the Binance Smart Chain, BNB is required as gas in order to send transactions. You can purchase BNB at different crypto exchange providers, such as Binance. BSC has extremely low fees, meaning that an average transaction costs you roughly $0.01!
